In my last blog for the Deep Dive Into Heart Health series, I reviewed the amazing benefits of dark chocolate. Now, I have a quick and easy recipe that you can ship together for a guilt-free treat for Valentine's Day or any day!
Dark Chocolate Covered Strawberries
Ingredients:
· Fresh strawberries (washed and dried)
· Dark chocolate (70% cocoa or higher), chopped
· Optional: White chocolate for drizzling
· Toppings: Chopped nuts, shredded coconut, chia seeds (optional)
Instructions:
Prepare the Strawberries:
Ensure that the strawberries are washed and completely dried. Moisture can cause the chocolate to seize.
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Melt Dark Chocolate:
1. In a heatproof bowl, melt the dark chocolate in a microwave or using a double boiler. Stir frequently to avoid burning.
2. Dip Strawberries:
3. Hold each strawberry by the stem and dip it into the melted dark chocolate, ensuring it's well-coated.
4. Allow any excess chocolate to drip off before placing it on the prepared baking sheet.
5. Optional Toppings: While the chocolate is still wet, sprinkle the strawberries with your choice of toppings, such as chopped nuts, shredded coconut, or chia seeds.
Cooling:
Place the baking sheet in the refrigerator to let the chocolate harden for at least 30 minutes.
Serve:
Once the chocolate has completely hardened, arrange the dark chocolate-covered strawberries on a serving plate.
