The Newest Delicious and Nutritious Snack, Sweet Aya Bites

Aya Bites, aka Tigers Nuts, are a type of plant, specifically the uber of Cyperus esculentus L., that has a sweet and nutty flavor. This wholesome crop contains protein, lipids, starch, fiber, vitamins, minerals, and bioactive factors (1). They are both soft and chewy and have a plethora of health benefits. Aya Bites, compared to tree nuts, have 75% less fat, three times the fibers, and up to 50% fewer calories. Aya Bites are also gluten-free and vegan!

Sweet Aya Bites come in three amazing flavors; Dark Chocolate Covered, Sea Salt Roasted, and Smokey BBQ. Aya bites make a perfect snack or can be paired with a protein and a carbohydrate, like Greek yogurt and a banana, for a meal.

This chewy snack can help improve digestion because it is full of insoluble fiber, which can help food move easier through the gut. Tiger Nuts may also reduce blood sugar levels due to the high proportion of arginine; an amino acid that releases insulin production. Aya Bites are also high in monounsaturated fats, which are linked to lower levels of low-density lipids. Additionally, Tiger Nuts may boost the immune system and be effective against antibiotic-resistant bacteria.

According to Yu and colleagues, Tiger Nuts can be used for nutritional meal replacement, gut health, and weight loss. “In addition, investigating the functional properties of protein and using it in baking and nutritional meal replacement foods is crucial to the study of tiger nut protein. Due to its high fiber content, it can be used in the development of food for improving gut health and weight loss” (1).
